Susan Matych-Hager has been making glass beads for the past 16 years. She was trained as a musician, but always had an interest in the visual arts. After taking a class at the Toledo Museum of Art, she was hooked on this medium. She particularly likes working in a variety of colors while utilizing many techniques to make her beads. She is perhaps best known in the glass bead world for her elaborate constructions of botanical necklace structures, for which she has received recognition. She is a published glass artist and recently began teaching glass bead making for the Adrian Center for the Arts.

Susan makes glass beads and glass bead jewelry. The glass beads are made using a variety of decorative techniques. She uses glass rods melted with an oxygen/fuel torch. Each bead is properly annealed in a kiln. All of the glass beads used in the jewelry are made by the artist.

At the fair, Susan will be joined by Gerald Hagar.
