I love creating colorful earrings, pendants, and bracelets using glass enamel – it is almost like being a kid again with a
brand-new pack of crayons! Glass enameling involves sifting layers of fine glass powder onto the copper and then torch-firing the
jewelry piece to approximately 1500 degrees to fuse the glass onto the copper. Many pieces have 4 or 5 layers of torch-fired
glass. I enjoy working with copper because there are so many different ways to transform copper – enameling, etching, embossing,
and creating patinas similar to aged copper rooftops. My latest pieces combine multiple finishes and mixed metals, creating
additional texture and depth.
