Bryan Van Benschoten
Bryan completed his BFA at Alfred State University College of Ceramics in 1968, has exhibited nationally and internationally, and worked as Master Potter at the Edison Institute (Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum) for 38 years. He is now teaching at Adrian College and producing sculpture and pottery at his studio.
The construction of his present pottery studio and teaching has ignited Bryan with a new interest in works that are less functional, more contemporary and aesthetically appealing. He changes the appearance of his work on a regular basis so it stays interesting, fresh, and relevant using wood, concrete, stone, and metal.
With a lifetime spent in this line of work, it has never grown boring, nor has Bryan lost interest in producing for those who love art and the handmade. He wants to be able to work until his last day on this earth, creating pottery and sculpture as his lasting legacy.
Shirley Van Benschoten
Shirley received a BFA in Painting from Siena Heights College, Adrian, Michigan. She has spent her lifetime as an artist with paintings shown in various galleries, shows, art fairs, festivals and art fundraisers.
Shirley has taken on various roles in the art community. In 1999, She had the distinct privilege and honor of working on the Lenawee County Millennium Sculpture Project in Adrian, Michigan. As a longtime member of Lenawee Council for Visual Artists, Shirley is serving as President of the organization. In January 2016, Shirley helped to open Studio One, as part of the Adrian Center for the Arts, and currently serves as Director of the facility.
