Ann’s love for “playing in the mud” and pottery has been a part of her life since childhood. Her skills and processes have developed as a result of world travel, complex studies and everyday living. She declares her best sources of inspiration are found in food – their culture, preparation and service. The lively colors and shapes are a delight to her. She translates many of these visuals in her creative process.
Inspired from a 14th century French oil jar, Ann’s current work is of pouring vessels: teapots, pitchers, oil jars, which she decorate with lemons and olives, combining the roundness of the fruit and form. Her techniques include working with a cone 2/3 clay and glaze in the maiolica style.
