As you are getting your 2012 calendar in order, we want to give you important dates for Art-A-Licious. It’s hard to believe we are already in our 6th year and are amazed at how quickly we have grown into such a great art, food, and music festival. Last year we grew to 71 artists, not including those in the lost arts, Adrian College and Community Clay tents.
Art-A-Licious 2012 will be held on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 21 and 22. Like last year, the art fair hours are Friday 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Here is what you need to know at this point.
- Our goal is to have applications available by the end of January or first of February.
- Applications will be emailed to you and also available on our website, www.artalicious.org We are hoping to provide an electronic option for submitting applications, pictures if required, and fees. We will also accept paper and snail mail this year through the Croswell.
- There will be two jury dates for artists new to Art-A-Licious. The first jury date will be Friday, April 27, and the second will be Friday, July 13. Artists will be contacted within one week of the jury dates.
- For returning artists, applications will be accepted anytime and processed as we receive them.
- We are uncertain of the exact number of spaces available this year because we are working on a number of things that could affect it. As in past years, when the spaces are filled we will be unable to accept anymore artists. So the sooner you get your application in, the better chance you will be able to participate. Spaces will not be assigned until applications are complete so read the information carefully when you receive it please.
- Tents to rent through our organization will be significantly limited and available only to LCVA (Lenawee Council for the Visual Arts) members on a first come, first get basis. You really need to either get your own 10×10 tent or find one on your own to rent.
- The application fee will probably go up slightly from last year but compared to other art shows of equal quality, we are still one of the most affordable (last year $10 for a 10×10 space).
- We are working on several of your suggestions from last year and hope to make changes that improve the quality of the weekend for the artists, the downtown merchants, and the public.
If you know of any artists who have not participated in art-a-licious in the past and might be interested, please feel free to pass this information on to them or email their name and contact information (email please) to Darlene Southward at scwp@tc3net.com. We look forward to your joining us for Art-A-Licious 2012.
